Novice Tricks

Unleash your dog's trick potential!
This program is the perfect starting point for young dogs, dogs who are new to training or are beginning their trick journey, or dogs who already know a few tricks. We will focus on fun new skills, cute tricks, and foundational knowledge for future titles. We will also learn about different training techniques, and how and when to use them.

Our Intermediate Tricks program builds on the foundational skills learnt in Novice Tricks, and introduces more complex, multi-step behaviours. It's perfect for dogs ready to grow their trick collection!

Trick training helps build your dog's confidence, provides enriching mental stimulation, and strengthens their ability to learn, focus, and problem-solve.
For owners, trick training is a powerful way to build a stronger relationship with your dog, and helps build stronger communication and positive interactions. Tricks can translate into real-life skills, and can be implemented to help with impulse control, reactivity, co-operative care, anxiety, leash walking, and everyday manners.
About me
Hi, I'm Emma! I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Dog Trainer, and a Do More with your Dog Certified Trick Dog Instructor and Evaluator.
I started working on tricks with my Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Keo, a few years ago when I realized that she lacked confidence when she wasn't with our older dog. We started by trying out an agility class, which she loved, and gave her a huge boost of confidence. I decided to use her as my partner dog for the KPA program to help boost her confidence even more, and she did amazing!
Since she learned so many new tricks during the program, I decided to work on her Novice trick title and quickly became addicted!
Since then, Keo and Milo have earned their Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced trick titles, and Bentley has earned his Novice title.
About Do More with your dog
Do More with your Dog was founded in 2000 by Kyra Sundance, an R+ trainer who had a very successful stunt dog career with her own dog, Chalcy. They focus on teaching pet parents how to using R+ methods to accomplish all kinds of tricks.
Do More with your Dog offers a range of titles which are recognized by AKC and CKC, including trick titles, fitness titles, stunt dog titles, and animal actor titles.
As a Certified Trick Dog Instructor, I am able to evaluate tricks and award your dog with any of the trick dog titles.
